The aims of education as given by the missionaries were to enable recipients to learn to read the bible in English and the local languages. Education in Africa generally had not been adapted to the needs and aspirations of the people. Consequently, it failed to satisfy the educational national aspirations of Nigerians (Eneh, 2015).
